Are you ready to step into a support role that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others?
SELF North East is looking for committed and compassionate Support Workers to join our residential care team supporting adults with complex needs including learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, and forensic profiles. Our service goes beyond care — we build inclusive communities where people can grow, belong, and live fulfilling lives.
About the Role
At SELF North East, we’re looking for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our residential care team. You’ll be supporting adults with a range of complex needs, including learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, and forensic backgrounds.
This isn’t just about providing care — it’s about empowering people to live fulfilling, independent lives. You’ll play an important role in creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and part of a community.
No two days are the same, and you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference — helping residents achieve their goals, build confidence, and take positive steps forward in their lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, and forensic profiles.
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive outcomes for each individual.
- Support residents with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, and household activities.
- Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage inclusion and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist with care plans and risk assessments, ensuring support is tailored to individual needs.
- Encourage participation in social, educational, and recreational activities within the home and community.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to provide consistent, high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate records and follow all safeguarding, health, and safety policies.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who are caring, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping others. You’ll be someone who values inclusion, respect, and individuality — and who believes everyone deserves the chance to live a full and meaningful life.
You don’t need years of experience — what matters most is your attitude, empathy, and willingness to learn. We’ll provide full training and ongoing support to help you develop your skills and confidence in the role.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Have a compassionate and understanding nature.
- Can build positive relationships with others and work well as part of a team.
- Are reliable, proactive, and able to handle challenges with patience and professionalism.
- Are open to learning and developing within a supportive environment.
- Have good communication skills and a person-centred approach to care.
Why Join SELF North East?
- Be part of a values-driven organisation focused on The 7 Keys to Citizenship
- Lead in a non-institutional, therapeutic environment
- Make a lasting difference in people’s lives by promoting independence and purpose
- Work within a supportive and forward-thinking team that prioritises quality and inclusion
