Job Description:

In this role, you will be conducting and managing product and process design, development, test and evaluation activities on Small Arms Ammunition (SAA) products. This will include current in service & future development products, playing a key role in manufacturing processes.

Core duties:

You will organise and handle trials in a safe and suitable manner, from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data
You will prepare technical documentation, including reports, procurement specifications and requirement specifications
You will carry out and support technical investigations, along with developing and using safe systems of work for engineering tasks
You will work with both internal and external suppliers and customers to ensure that technical and quality requirements for manufactured items are achieved on time and on schedule
You will develop inspection and quality controls for components and assembled products, while contributing to technical, design, and project reviews, as well as the risk management process

Essential Skills:

You will hold a Bachelor’s Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification and/or HNC/HND supported by complementary experience in Mechanical Engineering
You will be experienced in the development and industrialisation of products and processes with the ability to interpret technical drawings
You will have a good understanding of manufacturing techniques and assembly processes
You will have experience with trials, tests, and evaluation of products or processes

The Product Development Team:

Joining a dynamic engineering team designing and manufacturing next-generation ammunition for UK and export markets. As a Product Development Engineer in Small Arms Ammunition, you’ll be involved in all product lifecycle stages, from concept to production.
