We’ve built a massive following around our legendary smashed burgers, epic all-day breakfasts, loaded sides, and next-level desserts—and now, we’re bringing that exact energy to our brand-new flagship store in Hendon (222 West Hendon Broadway, NW9 7EE)!

The Role: Kitchen Team Member

As a Kitchen Team Member, you are the heart of Melto Cafe. You’ll be hands-on across all stations—from the grill to the pass—making sure every plate leaving the kitchen looks incredible and tastes even better.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking: Cook and prep our core menu items to exact brand spec—including smashing burgers, prepping breakfast ingredients, plating desserts, and handling deep fryers safely.
Speed & Efficiency: Maintain fast ticket times during peak rush hours without compromising on presentation or quality.
Station Setup & Maintenance: Keep your workstation clean, organized, and stocked (mis-en-place) throughout your shift.
Health, Safety & Hygiene: Strictly follow food safety regulations, temperature logging, allergen handling, and sanitation guidelines (EHO standards).
Stock & Waste Control: Help record stock levels, rotate ingredients (FIFO), and keep food waste to an absolute minimum.
Teamwork: Work seamlessly alongside front-of-house staff to clear orders efficiently and handle special dietary requests smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

Kitchen Experience: At least 6–12 months of hands-on experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, fast-casual restaurant, burger joint, or high-volume cafe.
Food Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of basic food hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and safety practices (Level 2 Food Safety certification is a major bonus).
Stamina & Speed: Comfortable standing for long hours and working in a fast-moving, high-heat environment.
Punctuality & Reliability: You show up on time, ready to work, and bring positive energy to every shift.

Shift Patterns & Availability

Our store opens from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, 7 days a week. We operate across two primary shift patterns:

Morning / Opening Shift (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM): Focus on breakfast prep, morning service, and stock deliveries.
Evening / Closing Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM): Focus on peak burger rush, dessert orders, night service, and full kitchen shutdown/deep clean.

We offer both Full-Time (35–45 hrs/week) and Part-Time (16–24 hrs/week) roles with flexible scheduling options.
