Company Overview

The Children's Bereavement Centre is a compassionate organization dedicated to supporting children and their families through grief and loss. We provide a range of therapeutic services, support sessions, workshops, and training programs aimed at helping young people navigate difficult times with care and understanding.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to join our team on a maternity cover basis. Based in, this role is vital in organizing volunteer efforts to ensure our services reach children and families in need while fostering a supportive community environment.

Role

You will play a key role in delivering a range of volunteering related administration to contribute to the effective and timely provision of a safe, professional, effective and accessible service. You will support the delivery of individual, group and community volunteer support through delivering and assisting with recruitment, induction, training, rewarding and supporting volunteers. This is a varied role that gives you a fantastic opportunity to interact with teams across the charity and take a proactive approach to expand volunteer opportunities and enhance engagement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Work with the team to ensure volunteer expressions of interest are processed effectively.
Booking of 1:1 sessional support delivered by volunteers.
Undertake regular audits of volunteers to ensure their skills, experience and location of support meet the needs of the charity and undertake recruitment campaigns as applicable to grow volunteer support.
Organise/attend interviews with the relevant staff member.
Provide inductions and regular support for volunteers through advice and information via face-to-face, telephone and email contact.
Organise the delivery of mandatory training such as safeguarding or other training as identified to ensure the quality of support through improving the skills of volunteers.
Liaise with internal supervisors to ensure mandatory observations take place and that any concerns around service delivery are passed onto the relevant staff member.
Support members within the service, and professionals in related agencies of health, education, social services.
Ensure that the welfare of the child is paramount and that child protection procedures are followed when necessary and attend safeguarding training.
Help to ensure that good practices of confidentiality and respect for children and their families are developed and maintained.

Administration and Promotion

Liaise with venues to book appropriate rooms for service user appointments.
Ensure all volunteer monitoring, evaluations and DBS checks are completed in line with organisational requirements.
Ensure open and clear lines of communication between the post holder and all other staff and volunteers in the service in order to develop and maintain good working relationships.
Attend relevant volunteer recruitment events and raise profile of volunteering in the community.
Organise an annual thank you and recognition event for all volunteers.
Help to manage and maintain the waiting list, update the database and undertake other administrative tasks as applicable.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures to ensure a high standard of volunteer and bereavement support practice.
Maintain accurate and up to date records, ensuring security and confidentiality and contributing to the evaluation of service.

Personal

Maintain up to date knowledge of all service policies and procedures.
Ensure confidentiality of any information received in the course of your duties.
Maintain standards of conduct to sustain public confidence in the Children’s Bereavement Centre.
Take personal responsibility for professional development and education.
Establish priorities in organising casework and management with support and supervision.
