Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced CCTV Drainage Survey Engineer to join our drainage survey division.

About the Role
This is a senior hands-on role for an experienced drainage survey professional who can confidently complete CCTV drainage surveys across both commercial and domestic sites.
As a CCTV Drainage Survey Engineer, you will be responsible for operating crawler camera systems, Minicam equipment, sonde tracing tools, and associated survey technology to inspect drainage systems, identify defects, map drainage layouts, and produce accurate reporting for clients and internal teams.
This position is for someone who already understands drainage systems, survey standards, site safety, fault diagnosis, and client communication. You will be trusted to work independently, manage your equipment, complete surveys to a high standard, and provide clear technical information that helps clients make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out CCTV drainage surveys across commercial and domestic properties.
- Operating crawler camera systems safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Using Minicam equipment to inspect drains, sewers, pipework, and associated drainage assets.
- Completing sonde surveys to trace pipe routes, identify drainage layouts, and support accurate mapping.
- Identifying flow direction, pipe materials, defects, blockages, collapsed sections, misconnections, root ingress, displaced joints, structural issues, and serviceability concerns.
- Assist the team in producing clear, accurate, and professional drainage survey reports, giving the quotations team actionable recommendations from site.
- Recording survey footage, still images, technical notes, site findings, and recommendations.
- Communicating findings clearly to clients, supervisors, account managers, and internal operational teams.
- Working safely around live drainage systems, confined spaces, roads, commercial premises, residential properties, and active work sites.
- Maintaining survey equipment, crawler units, cameras, sonde tools, vehicles, and associated kit.
- Completing daily job records, site notes, risk assessments, and relevant paperwork.
- Diagnosing drainage issues and recommending practical next steps.
- Representing Express Solutions Group professionally on every site.
- Supporting wider drainage operations where technical survey input is required.

Essential Experience and Qualifications
You will need:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CCTV drainage surveying, drainage engineering, drain inspection, or a closely related drainage role.
- Proven experience operating CCTV crawler systems.
- Experience using Minicam survey equipment.
- Experience completing sonde surveys and drainage tracing.
- Experience working across both commercial and domestic sites.
- Strong practical understanding of drainage systems, pipe layouts, flow direction, common drainage defects, and remedial options.
- Ability to work independently and manage surveys from start to completion.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills.
- Good communication skills with clients, site contacts, supervisors, and office-based teams.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- A professional, reliable, and customer-focused approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable Training and Qualifications
The following are desirable but not essential:
CSCS card or equivalent.
- WinCan experience.
- OS19X Pipe Classification qualification.
- Confined Space training: Low, Medium, or High Risk.
- High-Pressure Water Jetting certificate.
- NRSWA / Street Works.
- EFAW: Emergency First Aid at Work.
- Drain mapping experience.
- Experience preparing technical findings for quotations or remedial works.
- Experience working with commercial clients, facilities managers, contractors, insurers, or property teams.
