Job Title: CONNECT Operations Manager
Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £ 45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £ 54,863. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: London & Hybrid (60% / 3-days per week in office). The ‘home base’ Met location is Bromley. We offer the flexibility to work in a Hybrid way, where you can deliver your best, including Working from Home (WFH). Travel across the Met Estate, to attend meetings as required by the business, is expected.

Job Purpose
The CONNECT Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of CONNECT operational functions, including finance, business change, business processes, communications, HR, commercial activity, and supplier management.
The role holder will manage the day-to-day coordination and delivery of operational activities within their area of responsibility, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard, within agreed timescales, and in line with programme priorities and governance requirements.
Working under the direction of the CONNECT Operations Lead, the post holder will provide first-line management and supervision where required, ensuring clarity of tasking, monitoring performance, and contributing to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
The role will also support the development and implementation of processes, reporting, and operational controls, providing timely and accurate information to inform decision-making and programme delivery. The Operations Manager will act as a key point of contact for stakeholders, maintaining effective working relationships and supporting the smooth running of CONNECT operations.
Key Role Responsibilities
Financial Management & Control
Maintain and monitor the unit’s financial plans, including review of actuals, reforecasting, and accruals. Conduct variance analysis to support robust financial governance and alignment with approved budgets. Work closely with finance colleagues to ensure accurate and timely reporting, proactively identifying variances and supporting the implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
Governance, Risk & Control
Create, maintain, and manage risk, issue, dependency, assumption, change, and decision logs, ensuring accurate and transparent documentation. Proactively identify and escalate potential challenges to enable timely mitigation and support overall programme integrity.
Planning & Delivery Coordination
Develop and maintain programme and project plans within MSP, monitoring progress against key milestones. Highlight dependencies, risks, and variances to support proactive delivery management.
Performance Reporting & Insight
Produce high-quality status reports by collating and validating information from Workstream Leads, ensuring stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and consolidated updates to support informed decision-making.
Information & Document Management
Ensure adherence to information and configuration management standards, maintaining effective version control and structured document repositories to safeguard integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of programme documentation.
Workforce & Resource Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date organisational charts for the unit, including team structures and governance frameworks.
Manage and maintain resource data, working closely with the central resource team to ensure accurate workforce information, supporting effective resource planning and utilisation across CONNECT.
Governance Forums & Meeting Management
Manage the preparation and quality assurance of governance board papers, liaising with Workstream Leads to ensure timely submission of comprehensive and accurate documentation to support effective decision-making.
Leadership Support
Provide deputy support to the CONNECT Operations Lead where required, ensuring continuity of operations and leadership support.

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.
Working Pattern
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time (36-hours per week)
Hybrid Working available in line with the Metropolitan Police Service hybrid working policy.
You will be expected to work from a Met location for at least three days a week (60% of working time) to support our operational teams and collaborate effectively. For up to two days per week (no more than 40% of working time), you may be permitted to work from home, balancing flexibility with organisational need.
The role requires that you attend the Newlands Park office 3-days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the core hours of 10:00 to 16:00.

Proven ability to provide and deliver briefings and presentations.
An interest in promoting positive improvement in the MPS and helping the organisation to adapt to new ways of working.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
Ability to use initiative to unpick problems as processes and procedures cannot cover all eventualities.
Evidence of inclusive behaviour.
Experience
Financial processing including tracking timesheets, raising invoices and purchase orders.
Experience of identifying new workstream and project risks, recording and updating these within a risk log.
Experience of identifying and mapping new workstream and project dependencies, recording and updating these within a dependency log.
Prepared meeting materials for senior stakeholder meeting, including targeted board packs and capturing accurate meeting minutes.
Experiencing of reviewing resource schedules, identifying resource overutilisation and escalating this via the appropriate channels.
Delivered lessons learned sessions to colleagues, as result of their experience in a similar role, and applied these best practices to business and/or operations management activities to ensure existing processes and procedures are optimised.
Experience constructing cases which initiate change, understanding and projecting specific benefits to come from these changes.
