Full job description

Are you looking for a rewarding role working for an intersectional feminist organisation? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you to join our team as a Family Support Worker at Solace Women's Aid.

We exist to end the harm caused by gender-based violence. Our aim is to prevent violence and abuse, as well as provide services that meet the individual needs of survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.

About the Service

Solace provides safe refuge and move on accommodation to hundreds of women and children made homeless through domestic or sexual abuse. We run 19 refuges across London, including specialist refuge spaces for women with multiple needs.

About the Role

As a Family Support Worker, you will provide trauma-informed support to children, young people (aged 0–16) and their mothers who have experienced domestic abuse and are living in refuge accommodation.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help children and families begin their recovery by delivering one-to-one support, group work and age-appropriate activities that promote safety, wellbeing and resilience.

You will complete assessments, develop and review support plans, maintain accurate case records, and work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure families receive coordinated, high-quality support. You will also provide resettlement support to help families successfully transition into the community.

About You

You will have a relevant Level 3 qualification in childcare, youth work, health and social care or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families.

You will have a good understanding of the impact domestic abuse can have on children and young people, with experience of providing support, completing assessments, developing support plans and maintaining accurate case records.

You will be confident working independently and as part of a wider team, building positive relationships with families and professionals while maintaining professional boundaries and delivering a trauma-informed, child-centred and strengths-based approach.

Additional Information

The postholder will be based at two locations within Haringey. The role is centred around face-to-face support, including assisting survivors to appointments, and holding one to one meetings in person. Given the nature of this role, we are unable to offer hybrid working for this position.

The salary for this post is £29,385 - £30,671 (Unqualified) or £29,923 - £32,623 (Qualified).

This is a fixed term contract to 31st March 2027.
