Full job description

Job Title: Payroll, Pensions and HR Administrator (G5) (Admin and Clerical)
Location: County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ
Contract duration: 11+ Months
Working Hours: 29 hours per week (09:00-17:00)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: PAYE £13.68 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

Process payroll, pensions and HR administration accurately and within deadlines
Maintain accurate employee, payroll and pension records
Handle payroll and HR queries from council and school staff by phone and email
Explain basic payroll information clearly and professionally
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Use Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry, record keeping and reporting
Check payroll data, identify discrepancies and resolve routine issues
Manage competing priorities and meet payroll deadlines
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Follow payroll, HR and data protection procedures
Support seasonal workloads and the implementation of new systems
Provide a professional, responsive and customer-focused service

Person Specification:

Essential Experience:

Experience in payroll, HR, pensions or general administration
Customer service experience, including handling telephone and email queries
Experience handling confidential information
Experience working to deadlines and managing competing priorities
Experience working independently and within a team

Essential Skills:

Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Basic understanding of payroll processes and terminology
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Good organisation and time-management skills
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Ability to learn new systems and adapt to change
Good problem-solving and teamwork skills
