Idea Smart Homes specialises in the design, installation and ongoing support of intelligent building systems for some of the UK’s finest luxury homes.
We are authorised partners for Crestron, Control4, Lutron, Bang & Olufsen and KNX, delivering bespoke solutions that combine electrical installation, smart home automation, lighting control, audio visual, IT networking and electronic security systems.
Our projects are predominantly large new-build and high-end residential developments where quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail are paramount. Every project is different, giving our engineers the opportunity to work with industry-leading technology and develop specialist skills that go far beyond traditional electrical installation.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced electrician who wants to develop a career in one of the fastest-growing areas of the electrical industry.
This is not a typical electrician’s role. As part of our specialist team, you’ll install and commission intelligent building systems including smart home automation, lighting control, audio visual, networking and electronic security systems.
Whether you already have experience in these areas or are looking to learn, we provide ongoing manufacturer training and support to help you develop your skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Install high-quality first and second fix electrical installations.
- Install and commission smart home control systems.
- Install lighting control systems.
- Install CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and video intercom systems.
- Install automated gate control systems.
- Install structured cabling, IT networks and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
- Install multi-room audio, home cinema and audio visual systems.
- Test, commission and fault-find electrical and integrated building systems.
- Complete installation and commissioning documentation.
- Work closely with our design, programming and project management teams.
- Deliver exceptional workmanship and customer service on every project.
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and company quality standards.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Electrician.
- Minimum 2 years’ electrical installation experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Professional and positive attitude.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Pride in producing high-quality work.
Desirable Skills (Training Provided)
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous, although full training will be provided where required:
- Smart home systems
- KNX
- Crestron
- Lutron
- Control4
- Electronic security systems
- CCTV
- Intruder alarms
- Access control
- Automated gate systems
- Audio visual systems
- Home cinema
- IT networking and Wi-Fi
- HVAC and building controls

- £35,000–£40,000 basic salary depending on experience.
