Full job description

Precision MOT is a newly founded business based in Harworth, Doncaster to fill a demand in the local and wider area for affordable vehicle servicing, repairs and MOT testing.

We're eager to recruit an MOT tester for class 4 vehicles and wider inspection/repair work - Precision MOT is comprised of two owners, one with 10+years in the industry specializing in automotive repair and another with 10+ years in the software industry.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented MOT Tester/Technician to join our automotive service team. You will be responsible for conducting thorough vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DVSA safety and environmental standards, performing necessary repairs, and accurately completing MOT testing procedures.

Your expertise will help maintain our reputation for quality service and vehicle safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about automotive technology and eager to contribute to a safety-focused environment.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on a variety of vehicle makes and models in accordance with legal requirements and industry standards
Perform routine vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs using a range of hand tools and power tools
Identify mechanical issues through visual inspections and diagnostic equipment, then communicate findings clearly to customers or team members
Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot problems, replace faulty parts, and ensure vehicles meet safety standards before passing MOT certification
Assist with heavy lifting of vehicle components or equipment safely, following proper procedures to prevent injury
Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and test results in compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines (DVSA)
Ensure the workshop remains clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations at all times

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently
Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and socket sets
Experience operating power tools safely and effectively during repairs or inspections
Physical strength and stamina for heavy lifting tasks required during vehicle servicing
Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections and accurate documentation
Good communication skills for explaining technical issues clearly to customers or team members
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
