Make a difference to housing in Sheffield Housing is central to people’s health, wellbeing and quality of life.
We are looking for a Strategic Housing Officer to join our Strategic Housing team and help develop the evidence, policies and partnerships that support better housing outcomes across the city.

Why this role matters

Your work will help the Council understand housing needs, respond to national policy and legislation, plan effectively and make well-evidenced decisions for Sheffield.

This is a varied role for someone who can turn complex information into clear advice and practical action. You will work across the Council and with external partners, contributing to housing strategies and policies, research, market intelligence and service improvement.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who enjoys turning evidence into clear, practical advice and working with others to make things happen.
You’ll be someone who brings structure and momentum to varied work, planning projects, managing deadlines and keeping people connected.

What you will do

Develop and review housing strategies, policies and evidence to support decision-making.
Build effective relationships with Council services, residents, community groups and partner organisations.
Research and analyse housing issues, legislation, policy and market trends, producing clear briefings and recommendations.
Lead defined projects and work areas, managing priorities, deadlines and performance information.
Prepare reports, presentations, and consultation material for a range of audiences.

About the team

The Strategic Housing team is expanding and works across Housing and Neighbourhood Services, wider Council services and city partners. The team supports the development of housing strategy and policy. It builds the evidence needed for effective decision-making and helps the Council respond to changing housing needs, regulation and national policy.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
