We're looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Copywriter with a passion for storytelling and an eye for detail to help shape Purcell's editorial materials. Based in our London studio and sitting within our Work Winning Team, the Copywriter will work closely with colleagues from across the practice. The role will involve research, creation and editing of a wide variety of clear, engaging and persuasive content for digital and print, with a strong understanding of audience across all collateral.
The Copywriter will shape Purcell's public-facing written material, ensuring all outputs are to a high standard, well written and consistent in style; clearly communicating key themes, showcasing our projects and strengthening our brand.
Purcell celebrates 80 years of practice in 2027: we have an exciting programme of activity planned that requires a dynamic, hands-on team player with a proven editorial track record, with excellent knowledge of the built environment or heritage sector.

Key Responsibilities
-
Edit existing written materials, from broader structural edits to in-depth copyedits to ensure consistent tone of voice, word-choice etc relevant to audience and brief.
- Proofread content written by others in the practice to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency and clear response to brief.

Write engaging and clear content for a wide range of collateral: thought leadership articles, award submissions, website copy, brochures, presentations, etc.

Create content for social media, newsletters, event invitations, video subtitles and email marketing campaigns.

Develop compelling project narratives that showcase the best of our projects and thoughts, positioning Purcell clearly and engagingly to our external audiences.
- Write internal communications copy as needed, engaging internal audiences.

Research industry trends and topics to generate relevant content ideas.

Optimise digital content for search engines (SEO) and user engagement where appropriate.

Coordinate and collaborate with the wider work winning, technical and other teams across the practice to gather information and translate it into accessible, audience-focused copy.

Maintain a consistent tone of voice and brand messaging across all communications.
Act as ambassador for and guardian of established brand and stylistic guidelines that should be strictly implemented across all work.
Candidate Profile
Potential candidates should have:
- Knowledge of heritage / architecture / construction industry and awareness of key themes for the industry.

Proven experience of articles published as a copywriter, content writer, or communications specialist.

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Experience writing award submissions.

Ability to communicate complex or technical concepts in a clear and engaging way.

Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent interviewing and storytelling abilities.

Collaborative and confident working across a variety of teams.

Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

Understanding of SEO best practices and digital content strategy.

Excellent knowledge of MS Word, InDesign and PowerPoint.
