Job Description:
As a Modelling and Simulation Engineer within FCAS Synthetics, you will be delivering a synthetic integration capability, using a Model-Driven Simulation approach to support the FCAS programme through-life. You will be enabling early model integration to increase confidence in designs and reduce risk as we progress through the development lifecycle. As well as this, you will be supporting test & evaluation, certification, and qualification by reducing reliance on physical testing—using models and simulations to generate evidence.
Core Duties:
- Developing and Running Synthetic Fighter Jet Testing Environment
- Developing and Running Pilot-In-The-Loop Simulator for Fighter Jets
- Integrating and Testing Models into Simulation Environment
- Improving Simulator Realism and Useability, including integration of external hardware and software
- Running and Flying the Simulators, tuning and feedback about their performance, and supporting pilot test sessions
Essential Skills:
- A degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- Ability to discuss and communicate technical concepts
- Experience in functional programming languages such as: Simulink/Matlab, Python, Java or C#/C++
- Exposure to modelling and simulation tools and/or experience with; Siemens Teamcentre, NI Veristand/LabVIEW, Version control software (GIT), Atlassian Jira/Confluence or Agile workflows. E.g. Scrum / Kanban
