Full job description

We are looking for an organised and reliable person to join our team and help with the day-to-day running of our construction projects.

This is mainly a home-based role, with occasional visits to our sites across Sussex and the surrounding areas.

The role is varied and will include ordering materials, speaking to suppliers and trades, keeping project information organised and helping make sure our sites have what they need, when they need it.

You do not need to be an experienced construction professional. We are happy to provide training for the right person. Being organised, confident communicating with people and willing to learn is more important.

Key Responsibilities

Order materials and equipment for our building projects.
Get prices from suppliers and check availability.
Arrange deliveries to our sites.
Speak to suppliers, subcontractors and our site team about orders and deliveries.
Help make sure materials arrive when they are needed.
Assist with weekly project valuations.
Speak to clients about project progress and requirements.
Occasionally visit sites to check progress and discuss what is needed.
Keep project files and paperwork organised.
Help manage diaries, appointments and project schedules.
Provide general office and administrative support.
Assist the Director with measuring and pricing work for projects.

Training will be provided for the more construction-specific parts of the role.

Hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week – flexible working can be discussed.
Pay: £14.00 per hour during a 3-month probation period, increasing to £16.00+ per hour afterwards, depending on experience and performance.

Person Specification

Essential

Organised and reliable.
Good communication skills and confident speaking to people by phone and email.
Good attention to detail.
Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Able to organise your own workload.
Happy working independently from home.
Willing to learn new skills.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable

These would be helpful, but are not essential:

Previous experience in construction, building or property.
Previous office or administration experience.
Experience ordering materials or dealing with suppliers.
Experience dealing with tradespeople or subcontractors.
Basic knowledge of residential building work.
Experience with pricing or measuring building work.

We are happy to provide training to someone who has the right attitude and organisational skills.
