Job Overview

Please note this is a role for 27.5 hours

£14 per hour

Previous school experience required

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for students in a safe and hygienic environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of young learners while working within a supportive educational setting. The School Cook will play a vital part in ensuring that meal services run smoothly and efficiently, adhering to all food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of meals suitable for school-aged children, ensuring nutritional standards are met
Plan menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and school policies
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including sanitising surfaces and equipment
Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies and checking stock levels
Serve meals to students in an efficient and friendly manner
Follow all food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
Assist with special dietary requirements or allergies as needed
Collaborate with school staff to ensure timely meal service during designated break times
Support the training of new kitchen staff or volunteers as required

Qualifications

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a school, restaurant, or catering environment
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience with meal preparation for large groups of people
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
Good communication skills to work collaboratively with staff and students
Culinary experience or relevant qualifications in catering or hospitality are desirable
Previous experience serving food in a professional setting is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety

Pay: £14.00 per hour
