Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, proactive and commercially focused Adult Gaming Centre (AGC) Manager to take responsibility for the effective management and day-to-day operation of our gaming centre.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing AGC assets, staff and resources, maintaining high operational and technical standards, maximising income and profitability, ensuring that the centre operates in accordance with company policies, Gambling Commission objectives, BACTA requirements and all relevant health and safety procedures.
This is a hands-on management role requiring strong leadership, organisation and communication skills, together with a clear understanding of customer service, compliance, staff management and the operational requirements of an AGC.

Key Responsibilities
AGC Operations & Commercial Performance
- Effectively manage and control the daily operation of the AGC in accordance with company policies and procedures and to the highest possible standard.
- Manage AGC assets and available resources effectively to maximise operational performance, income and profitability.
- Monitor machine income and identify proactive measures to maintain and improve income levels.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of machine changes, installations and removals, ensuring deadlines are met and opportunities to maximise income are achieved.
- Monitor the operational quality and performance of gaming machines and liaise with the Service Manager regarding technical updates, maintenance requirements, security issues and machine servicing.
- Ensure the latest technical developments and machine features are understood and communicated effectively to staff and customers.
- Maintain appropriate float levels and ensure AGC assets and resources are effectively controlled.
Compliance & Responsible Gambling
- Promote and uphold the Gambling Commission's three main objectives across all AGC operations.
- Ensure the centre operates in accordance with applicable BACTA technical requirements and company procedures.
- Ensure staff understand and consistently apply responsible gambling and age-verification requirements, including Think 25 procedures.
- Ensure self-exclusion procedures are followed correctly and consistently.
- Maintain high standards of security, data protection and operational compliance.
- Implement best practice in relation to data and security matters and liaise with the relevant administrative functions where issues arise.
- Ensure all staff understand and comply with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Staff Management & Leadership
- Recruit, manage, motivate and develop AGC staff to deliver consistently high standards of performance and customer service.
- Manage staffing resources effectively on a day-to-day basis, including recruitment, holidays, sickness, termination and disciplinary matters where required.
- Ensure staff rotas are prepared and communicated in advance and that appropriate cover is maintained.
- Monitor staff performance and conduct regular performance reviews in accordance with company appraisal procedures.
- Identify training needs and arrange remedial or additional training where necessary.
- Undertake training and support the training and development of new and existing employees.
- Ensure all employees meet company standards of presentation and wear the appropriate company uniform while on duty.
- Hold regular team meetings, communicate relevant operational matters and ensure agreed actions are followed through.
- Liaise regularly with the Line Manager regarding staffing, performance and other personnel matters.
Customer Service
- Maintain a friendly, professional and customer-focused environment at all times.
- Ensure customer-facing staff deliver consistently high standards of service.
- Handle customer complaints calmly, courteously and professionally.
- Take ownership of customer issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are completed and significant matters are promptly reported to the Director.
- Ensure the AGC is maintained to a high standard of presentation, cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ensure staff understand and communicate relevant machine developments, features, promotions and offers to customers appropriately.
- Develop and promote new promotions and offers in accordance with company requirements.
Stock, Cash & Asset Management
- Maintain effective control of AGC stock, including refreshments and other operational supplies.
- Ensure stock is maintained at agreed levels and carry out regular stock checks with the assistance of service or administration staff.
- Maintain appropriate control of AGC assets and resources.
- Ensure financial and operational information is recorded accurately and reported as required.
- Monitor relevant operational performance information and provide periodic reports to the Line Manager.
Health, Safety & Security
- Ensure full compliance with company health and safety procedures and relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
- Ensure staff understand and consistently follow health and safety procedures.
- Ensure PAT testing and other required safety checks are completed as necessary.
- Maintain a secure environment for customers, employees, equipment and company assets.
- Identify and report site-related problems promptly and coordinate with management and service personnel to arrange appropriate action.
- Ensure security, data and operational risks are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain regular and effective communication with Directors, Managers, colleagues, service teams, administration and other relevant departments.
- Liaise with suppliers, service providers, agents and brand representatives as required.
- Provide periodic reports to Directors/Line Managers on AGC performance and operational matters.
- Attend meetings and report on relevant AGC action plans when required.
- Communicate operational issues promptly to the Director and ensure agreed actions are implemented.
- Remain contactable during AGC opening hours for emergencies and operational matters.
Experience & Skills
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven management experience within an AGC, gaming, leisure, hospitality, retail or another customer-focused operational environment.
- Experience of supervising, motivating and developing a team.
- Strong knowledge of day-to-day operational management and staff scheduling.
- An understanding of responsible gambling, age verification and compliance requirements.
- Ideally, experience of working within Gambling Commission and/or BACTA requirements.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how operational decisions can influence income and profitability.
- Experience of handling customer complaints and resolving issues professionally.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with Directors/ Line Managers, staff, customers, suppliers and service teams.
- The ability to monitor performance, identify problems and take proactive action.
- Good basic numeracy and the ability to understand operational and financial information.
- A strong understanding of health and safety and workplace procedures.
- A professional approach to security, confidentiality and data-related matters.
- A positive, hands-on leadership style and the ability to lead by example.

Working Environment
The AGC Manager will work closely with Directors/Line Mangers, colleagues, AGC staff, members of the public, suppliers, service providers, agents and brand representatives.
The role is primarily based within the AGC and requires a hands-on approach to managing people, customers, machines, facilities and operational resources.
The post holder will be expected to maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, hygiene, customer service and compliance while ensuring the smooth and profitable operation of the centre.
Additional Responsibilities
The postholder may be required to undertake other duties that fall within the general scope of the role. The job description may be amended, in consultation with the postholder, to reflect changing business requirements or circumstances.
The postholder is expected to work in accordance with all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and Dignity & Diversity requirements.
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
