General Labourer

Reporting To

Workshop Manager / Production Supervisor

Location

Gartsherrie Engineering Ltd

Job Purpose

To support the fabrication and manufacturing operations of Gartsherrie Engineering by carrying out general workshop duties, maintaining a safe and tidy working environment, and assisting fabrication personnel in the efficient completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Assist fabricators, welders and other workshop personnel with daily tasks.
Operate handheld grinding tools to clean, prepare and finish metal components.
Prepare materials for fabrication processes.
Move materials, components and equipment around the workshop safely.
Maintain workshop cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
Dispose of waste materials in designated areas.
Assist with loading and unloading deliveries and collections.
Support stock handling and storage activities.
Clean and maintain tools, equipment and work areas.
Assist with painting, packaging and preparation of completed fabrications for dispatch.
Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
Report hazards, defects or unsafe conditions to management.
Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support workshop operations.

Health & Safety

The employee must:

Work in accordance with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
Attend any required safety training.
Report accidents, incidents and near misses immediately.

Skills and Experience

Essential

Good work ethic and willingness to learn.
Ability to work safely in a fabrication workshop environment.
Capable of manual handling duties.
Reliable and punctual.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

Previous experience in an engineering, fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Experience using hand and power tools.
Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential).
Basic understanding of workshop health and safety requirements.

Commitment to quality and safety.

Hours of Work

Normal working hours will be 7am-4pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 7am-12pm, with additional hours as required by business needs.

Pay

Pay for this role is National Minimum Wage
