This role is office based, with potential for some agile or remote working.

Initially, this is a 2-year fixed term post with the anticipation to become permanent.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Administrator within the Building Control tech support team. This is a full-time role at Grade 8.

Reporting to the Building Control Manager, you will lead and manage a team of technical support officers, ensuring the Building Control service operates efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with the Building Safety Act.

You will manage the day to day activities associated with Building Control support, identify where processes may benefit from review and implement change to improve efficiency.

You will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Building Control Service Quality Management System, making improvements where required, monitoring training and CPD, to ensure competence is maintained across the team in accordance with the requirements of Operational Standards Rules.

You will develop our systems, to allow efficient capture of data required, to ensure we are able to provide statutory Key Performance Indicator returns to the Building Safety Regulator.

You will also contribute to the promotion of the Building Control Service, to ensure its long-term competitiveness and viability is maintained.

Your role will involve

Leading an administration team that supports the Building Control function.
Daily management and supervision of Building Control support officers, including appraisals and training.
Develop processes and maintain statutory returns and KPIs for the Building Safety Regulator.
Ensure Quality Management System processes are reviewed and updated where necessary. Prepare and submit QMS Audits.
Managing registration and validation processes for building regulation applications, ensuring statutory targets are met
Overseeing financial administration, including invoicing, purchase orders, reconciliation, and monitoring fees and charges
Developing customer care and service improvements, including handling complex enquiries, complaints, FOIs, and updating website content

What we are looking for

Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate a small team and managing workloads effectively, within statutory time frames.
Experience in Building Control with strong knowledge of processes, legislation, and customer care.
Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, measure plans and calculate fees.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems. Experience of IDOX Uniform would be an advantage.
