Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Collaboration Engineer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

What will you do?

The CWA is recruiting a Detailing Engineer to join the Permanent Works team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be involved in developing construction methodologies, reinforcement modelling and constructability solutions that help shape the permanent civils works during the pre-construction phase

Develop initial construction methodologies, method statements and reinforcement models to support the design and future construction of permanent civils works.
Support constructability reviews, value engineering initiatives and option studies alongside designers, reinforcement detailers and project stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal functions including commercial, procurement, project controls, construction delivery and HSE teams to ensure engineering solutions align with project requirements.
Interface with designers to understand design constraints and help develop practical, buildable solutions.
Capture lessons learned and best practice from related programmes to continuously improve engineering and detailing approaches.
Review and challenge design proposals to reduce risk, improve value, optimise quantities and support efficient programme delivery.
Champion Safe by Design principles and contribute to a culture focused on safety, wellbeing and engineering excellence

What are we looking for?

Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering.
Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers.
At least 3 years' relevant engineering experience on civil engineering projects.
Experience working for a civil engineering contractor, with power or nuclear sector experience considered advantageous.
Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction, waterproofing systems and associated temporary works.
Ability to interpret and challenge RC detailing, drawings and schedules while assessing reinforcement buildability.
Competent CAD skills and experience using Revit, Navisworks and other 3D modelling tools.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, designers, subcontractors and project teams.
A collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and delivering best value for the programme.
