Full job description

About the Role

We are looking for a confident, professional and guest-focused Receptionist to join the team at Marwell Hotel.

You will be responsible for creating a warm and professional welcome for our guests, while also managing the day-to-day operation of the reception desk. No two shifts will be the same, and you will need to be comfortable balancing competing priorities while maintaining excellent guest service.

Previous hotel reception experience is preferred, and strong knowledge of Opera Cloud is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome guests and provide a warm, professional and efficient check-in and check-out experience
Manage the reception desk independently throughout your shift
Use Opera Cloud confidently for reservations, check-ins, check-outs, room allocations, billing and guest information
Handle guest enquiries, requests and complaints professionally and promptly
Manage telephone calls, emails and guest correspondence
Process payments, deposits and invoices accurately
Assist guests with information about the hotel, local area and available facilities
Communicate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage and Management
Monitor room availability and ensure accurate room status information
Deal with unexpected situations and operational issues calmly and professionally
Maintain accurate records and complete all required reception and cash-handling procedures
Support the wider hotel team when required
Ensure the reception and public areas are maintained to a high standard
Follow all hotel, health & safety and security procedures

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will be:

Experienced in hotel reception, ideally within a busy hotel environment
Confident using Opera Cloud and able to navigate the system efficiently
A naturally warm and welcoming person who genuinely enjoys looking after guests
Comfortable working alone and taking ownership of the shift
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Able to multitask and prioritise effectively when the hotel is busy
Calm and professional when dealing with difficult or unexpected situations
Confident handling payments and guest accounts
A strong communicator with good written and verbal English
Flexible and willing to support other departments when required
Reliable, professional and well presented

The Person

This role will suit someone who enjoys being at the heart of hotel operations and takes pride in delivering excellent guest service.

You will often be the first and last impression a guest has of Marwell Hotel, so your attitude, professionalism and ability to make guests feel welcome are incredibly important.

Because there is only one Receptionist on shift, we need someone who is comfortable working independently, can think on their feet and doesn't need constant supervision.
