This role is office-based; however, it also offers some agile or remote working

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Payments Team for a career-graded development role as a Payments Officer (Specialist), working in a fast-paced, data and numbers-driven environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive individual to join our high-performing Payments Team. The team plays a vital role in supporting the Council through the management of payments, financial processing, debt recovery, and ensuring excellent service delivery to both internal and external customers. A key aspect of this role is supporting the effective recovery of outstanding debts, ensuring income is collected promptly while delivering a professional and customer-focused service.

As a Payments Officer, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to the team, Team Leader, and colleagues across the Council. Key responsibilities will include:

Processing payment data and invoices accurately and efficiently
Running, reviewing, and analysing reports to support decision-making
Recovering outstanding debts and overdue invoices
Communicating professionally with internal and external customers on a daily basis
Supporting the smooth running of a busy and demanding service

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment where accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail are critical. The successful candidate will be comfortable working at pace, managing competing priorities, and delivering high-quality work within set deadlines.

Previous financial or administrative experience would be advantageous; however, we are primarily seeking an individual with the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and the drive to develop within the role.
