Location: Salford - Agile. Monday - Friday, 3 days minimum per week in office.
Proposed Salary Range: £28,000–£38,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for an enthusiastic journalist who is full of ideas to join our award-winning Planning and Commissioning team. Based in Salford, you will be part of a small, busy and supportive team that plays a central role in the BBC’s digital strategy to grow weekend audiences in the UK and internationally. At the heart of our work is a passion for original journalism, combining creativity, audience insight and sharp news instincts to produce compelling digital content that meets the highest editorial standards.

YOUR KEY RESPONSABILITIES & IMPACT
Originate fresh and distinctive ideas by using editorial experience, audience insights, social media and search trends to identify emerging stories, particularly for underserved audiences
Gather, verify and develop engaging and shareable material for digital output
Write and produce high-quality content for publication in text, video and stills, delivering clean copy that adheres to BBC house style and editorial standards.
Create social media content that complements your reporting and helps reach and engage new audiences
Repurpose and develop pre-gathered content from upcoming BBC programmes into accurate, engaging and distinctive standalone articles
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA :
Proven experience of producing high-quality digital journalism under deadline pressure
A track record of generating ideas that will appeal to new audiences and broaden our editorial agenda
Excellent news writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate, engaging news stories, features and other editorial formats
Familiarity with using audience insights, social media and search trends to identify emerging stories and content opportunities
A record of sourcing, verifying and developing material from a wide range of contacts and sources, to ensure accurate, fair and impartial journalism
Sound knowledge of media law, editorial standards including BBC Editorial Guideline
