About the role

Are you motivated by making a lasting difference and a desire to help care-experienced young people build confidence, independence and brighter futures?

As a Wellbeing Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in helping young people in care and care leavers aged 16-25 build confidence, improve their wellbeing, and successfully transition into independent adulthood. Working alongside our Advanced Mental Health Practitioner and Leaving Care Service, you'll provide practical and emotional support that empowers young people to achieve their goals and thrive.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, deliver wellbeing-focused interventions, and become a trusted source of support for young people as they navigate some of the most important stages of their lives.

What will you be doing?

You'll develop positive, trusting and inspiring relationships with young people accessing our Leaving Care Service.
You'll manage a caseload of young people, focusing on their wellbeing, mental health, safety and personal development.
You'll assess individual needs and create supportive wellbeing plans that help young people build resilience and develop strategies to maintain positive mental health.
You'll work closely with Social Workers, Personal Advisors, the Advanced Mental Health Practitioner and partner agencies to help young people achieve the goals within their pathway plans.
You'll connect young people with the practical, emotional, educational, health and community support they need to succeed.
You'll advocate for young people when needed, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests are promoted.
You'll maintain accurate records and contribute to effective planning, reviews and interventions.
You'll work flexibly and proactively, meeting young people where they are and providing the right support at the right time.

About you

You're passionate about supporting young people and helping them realise their potential. You understand the challenges that care-experienced young people can face and are committed to helping them build positive futures.

You'll bring:

Knowledge of the legislation and responsibilities relating to looked after children and care leavers.
An understanding of how to support young people with their wellbeing, mental health, aspirations and self-care.
Experience of helping young people develop the skills, resilience and positive networks they need to achieve successful independent lives.
Strong written and IT skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and use electronic case recording systems.
The ability to build effective relationships with professionals and partner agencies across education, employment, accommodation and health services.
Excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and work positively with young people, including those who may be difficult to engage
The ability to support young people to set and achieve ambitious goals through a friendly, non-judgemental and trauma-informed approach.
Experience of assessing needs and planning interventions that focus on wellbeing, safety and risk management.
Experience of supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes and progress towards independence.
Educated to A Level qualification standard (or equivalent through experience)
A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and the ability to travel to meet the needs of the role.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check
