Full job description

The Mitchell Group at the Cambridge Early Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with a background in computational biology to join our team working on kidney cancer.

Purpose of the role

This position sits within a large collaborative project investigating genome evolution across a large cohort of kidney cancer patients, integrating whole-genome sequencing, transcriptomic, epigenomic, and clinical data. The successful candidate will lead the curation, analysis, and integration of large-scale genomic datasets to reveal the molecular drivers of kidney tumour progression.

Key responsibilities

Curate and process large-scale genomic datasets, including WGS, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data (to include single cell and spatial technologies)
Learn, develop, and apply cutting-edge computational approaches for analysing high-throughput sequencing data
Produce clear, informative data visualisations and communicate findings effectively within the team
Maintain version-controlled, well-documented, reproducible analysis pipelines
Collaborate on and support ongoing projects within the Mitchell Group

An MSc, or equivalent, in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is essential. Prior experience in multi-omics data integration is highly desirable.

The role offers opportunities for professional development, including specialised training in cancer genomics and bioinformatics. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact research that bridges fundamental cancer biology and clinical translation.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
