Role Overview
This role sits within the Trade Surveillance Technology function, supporting the design, enhancement, and delivery of surveillance platforms that underpin TP ICAP’s market conduct and regulatory obligations.
The Business Analyst will act as a critical interface between Compliance, Front Office, and Technology, translating regulatory requirements and surveillance use cases into scalable technology solutions. The position offers exposure to complex trade and communication surveillance frameworks across multiple asset classes, with scope to contribute to strategic platform evolution, data quality improvements, and control uplift initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Delivery
Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for surveillance systems, including trade and e-communications monitoring tools
Produce high-quality functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria aligned to Agile delivery practices
Map current (“as-is”) and future (“to-be”) surveillance workflows, identifying opportunities for process optimisation and automation
Support the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, including design, build, testing, and implementation
Surveillance & Regulatory Alignment
Work closely with Compliance and Surveillance teams to understand regulatory obligations (e.g. market abuse, trade reporting, conduct risk) and translate these into system requirements
Support the development and enhancement of alerting frameworks, including parameter tuning, calibration, and governance processes
Contribute to initiatives focused on improving surveillance effectiveness, data lineage, and auditability
Data & Technology Engagement
Analyse complex trade and order data flows across front-to-back systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability
Partner with Technology teams (Engineering, Data, QA) to ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned to architectural standards
Support integration of surveillance platforms with internal systems and external vendor solutions
Stakeholder Management
Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, bridging the gap between technical teams and non-technical users
Facilitate workshops, requirements gathering sessions, and solution walkthroughs
Provide clear and concise communication to stakeholders at all levels, including updates on delivery progress and key risks
Testing & Governance
Define and execute test scenarios, including SIT and UAT support, ensuring solutions meet business and regulatory requirements
Ensure appropriate documentation, controls, and governance artefacts are maintained in line with audit and compliance expectations
Experience / Competences
Essential
Demonstrated and proven experience in a Business Analyst role
Proven understanding of the trade lifecycle (pre and post-trade)
Understanding of financial transactional data and associated reference data
Experience working with surveillance or regulatory platforms
Experience with SQL and database querying
Experience with data mapping and message protocols (formats such as JSON/XML/FIX)
Familiarity with MAR, MIFID II or similar regulations
Experience of working across multiple asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities FX)
Experience in a BA role on software development or data integration projects
Experience in Agile delivery environments
Skilled at collaborating with multiple business, compliance and technical stakeholders
Demonstrated data analysis skills
Desired
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting market conduct (e.g. MAR, MiFID II)
Understanding of data modelling, data governance, or data quality concepts
Experience working with SQL, data visualisation tools, or analytics platforms
Knowledge of AI or data-driven approaches to surveillance would be advantageous
Understanding of the AWS deployment model
