The Post:
Are you curious about data and motivated by the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives? If so, this role offers the chance to use your skills for meaningful public benefit.

As a Data Management Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing data to address Scotland’s public health challenges and support informed decisionmaking across the health and care system. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to insights that help shape policy, improve services and reduce health inequalities.

Key responsibilities include:

Processing and interrogating data submissions to monitor quality, completeness and timeliness of our national datasets
Working closely with data suppliers to understand data sources and systems, investigate anomalies and agree plans to address delays or resolve issues with data submissions
Working closely with users of the data and wider stakeholders to share information about limitations or issues and inform how data should be used and interpreted
Developing and contributing to national data standards and definitions to ensure data integrity and consistency across Scotland and the UK
Providing professional expert advice and guidance on data management matters including: data mapping and conversions, validation rules and technical formats; alternative solutions for data collection, processing and storage; solving complex data issues
Providing training and presenting information to clinical and non-clinical staff, data providers and colleagues involved in data collection across Scotland

Location and Working Pattern:

The post is based at either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Bothwell Street, Glasgow

PHS currently operates a hybrid working model, with a mixture of working at home and in the office each week.

If you are successful, you will be allocated to a team based on business requirements.

This post is available on a fulltime basis (36 hours per week), with parttime hours considered. PHS is a flexible employer, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you have the right to work in the UK and must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
