Full job description

Weekend Cook – Briarcroft Care Home

Location: Teignmouth

Hours: Saturdays & Sundays, 7am–2pm, (Potential for Fridays)

Additional Hours can be offered

Cover: Cook cover for annual leave and sickness may also be required

Briarcroft is looking for a confident, creative Weekend Cook to bring delicious, nutritious meals to life for our 19 residents. As a warm, dementia‑friendly home, mealtimes are a huge part of our residents’ comfort and daily joy — and your cooking will genuinely make a difference.

If you love being in the kitchen, enjoy working independently, and want a stable weekend role with the option to pick up extra hours, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive, friendly team and take real pride in what you do.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch for residents, prepare tea for carers to serve in the evening all while following dietary needs
Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment
Follow food hygiene standards and organisational policies
Support with stock rotation
Provide cook cover during staff annual leave and sickness
Additional Hours Available: these can be made up helping to cover laundry and cleaning shifts, if required a regular shift pattern including these roles can be explored.

Requirements

Experience cooking for groups preferred
Understanding of food hygiene
Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
Positive, friendly attitude
Right to work in the UK without sponsership
