Technical Sales Engineer (Internal)

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum

M. Buttkereit Ltd is the UK distributor for a number of leading German and Italian manufacturers, supplying high-quality engineering components to customers across machine building, industrial automation, control panel manufacturing, rail and special purpose vehicles.

We're a small, growing business where people make a real difference. You'll work closely with customers, suppliers and manufacturers, gaining exposure to a wide range of engineering applications and products.

The Role

We're looking for someone who enjoys engineering but also enjoys working with people.

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you'll become a key contact for our customers, helping them select products, preparing quotations and developing long-term relationships. You'll spend most of your time in the office supporting customers by phone and email, with occasional customer visits and attendance at trade exhibitions.

This role would suit someone with an engineering background who is looking to move into technical sales, or someone already working in an internal technical sales environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Preparing and following up customer quotations.
Speaking with customers to understand their applications and recommend suitable products.
Developing relationships with existing customers and identifying opportunities to grow business.
Contacting prospective customers and following up sales leads.
Working closely with our German and Italian manufacturing partners on technical enquiries and pricing.
Providing technical product advice and application support.
Processing customer orders and ensuring an excellent customer experience.
Occasionally visiting customers and representing the company at exhibitions and industry events.

About You

We're far more interested in your attitude than your CV.

You'll probably have worked in an engineering or technical environment and have a genuine interest in engineering products. More importantly, you'll enjoy speaking with people, asking questions, understanding customers' needs and building relationships.

You'll ideally have:

Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking with customers.
A friendly, approachable personality and a genuine interest in helping people.
An interest in developing a career in technical sales.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
A willingness to learn about new products and applications.
Good IT skills.
