The role:

Are you a compassionate and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting people experiencing mental health challenges? As a Health Care Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within our inpatient mental health services. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will help patients on their recovery journey, providing practical, emotional and therapeutic support in a safe and caring environment. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Leverndale Hospital
Rotational day and night shifts, two 12-hour shifts and one 6-hour shift per week, Monday to Sunday
Part-time, permanent
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

Provide compassionate care and support to patients as part of a multidisciplinary inpatient mental health team
Contribute to care planning by implementing and reporting on agreed aspects of patient care
Support patients with their mental wellbeing, physical health and recovery goals using a person-centred approach
Build positive therapeutic relationships with patients, families and carers based on dignity, respect and inclusion
Assist with risk identification and escalate concerns appropriately to support safe and effective care delivery
Maintain accurate records and contribute to a safe clinical environment, including infection prevention and control practices
Participate in learning, supervision, service improvement activities and the support of students and learners within the team

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Educated to SVQ Level 3, SCQF Level 6 or equivalent experience, or actively working towards this qualification
Completion of a health, mental health or social care programme, or equivalent relevant experience
Working knowledge of mental health issues and mental health nursing care
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with patients, carers and colleagues
Experience using digital systems, email and basic IT applications to support service delivery
Ability to work collaboratively with others while also undertaking duties with minimal direct supervision
Demonstrable commitment to the Health Care Support Worker Standards and Code of Conduct with a compassionate and professional approach to care
