Full job description

At City Catering Southampton, we are passionate about providing great quality, nutritious meals to children across Southampton and beyond. As a charity, we believe every child deserves the best lunchtime experience possible — and we’re looking for enthusiastic, friendly people who want to help make that happen.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team in a rewarding term-time role that fits around family life and school hours.

Location: Springhill School
Hours: 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Working Weeks: 39 weeks per year (term-time only)
Pay: £12.71 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are the same! You’ll help with:

· Helping to prepare and serve tasty, nutritious meals

· Creating a welcoming dining experience for children

· Keeping kitchen and dining areas clean, safe, and organised

· Supporting with food safety, allergens, and hygiene procedures

· Working as part of a supportive and energetic team

· Helping us reduce food waste and promote healthy eating

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need years of experience — the right attitude is what matters most!

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

· Friendly and approachable

· Reliable and punctual

· Passionate about food and customer service

· A great team player

· Positive, hardworking, and willing to learn

· Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment

· Flexible and willing to support other kitchen locations when needed

Previous catering experience is helpful, but not essential — full training will be provided.

Important Information

This role is subject to eligibility to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS check due to working within school environments. The cost of the DBS check will be covered by the Charity.
