Senior Infrastructure Engineer
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team. About the Role
As Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide escalation support across infrastructure, cloud services, networking, and end-user computing, while also playing a central role in foundational IT improvement and digital transformation. This is more than a traditional support role; it is an opportunity to help reshape the organisation’s technology landscape. You will contribute to the redesign of core processes, support the modernisation of systems and services, and help build a more secure, efficient, and scalable IT environment for the future. The role will also act as an AI ambassador for the business, helping to drive the development, adoption, and practical use of AI tools and ways of working across teams. This role will suit someone who is excited by designing and implementing solutions, influencing change, and making a visible, lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level technical support across desktops, laptops, servers, printers, peripherals, and business applications.
- ·Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, LAN/WAN connectivity, and core TCP/IP networking.
- Support and help develop Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure-based services in line with business and security requirements.
- Maintain and support virtualised environments including VMware, Hyper-V, host infrastructure, virtual servers, and storage platforms.
- Assist with network administration, including firewall rule management, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN connectivity, and wider network optimisation.
- Support patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint compliance, and general security best practice across Windows devices, servers, and cloud-managed services.
- Work with internal stakeholders and technical colleagues to deliver upgrades, improvements, and infrastructure changes.
- Act as an AI ambassador across the business, helping to identify opportunities for AI adoption, promote best practice, and support the development of practical AI-enabled processes and solutions using tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and automation technologies where appropriate.
- Document technical procedures, fixes, and support guidance to strengthen team knowledge and service consistency.
- Deliver excellent customer service, communicating clearly and professionally with users at all levels of the business.
What We`re Looking For
- Proven experience in a senior IT infrastructure support, or technical support role within an enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot and Azure.
- Solid understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switching, and firewall management.
- Experience supporting virtualisation platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V, including virtual machines, host platforms, and associated infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with software deployment, patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint support, and device management using modern support and management tools.
- AI, automation, and digital innovation, with the ability to help champion adoption and identify practical use cases across the business using technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and workflow automation tools.
- Strong ITIL understanding for service management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Clear and confident communication skills.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach and a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality IT support.
