We are looking for an experienced Principal Antenna Engineer to join our Engineering team in a senior technical leadership role. This is an opportunity to influence the future direction of our products, lead the development of cutting-edge RF and antenna solutions, and play a key role in mentoring engineers while deputising for the Chief RF Engineer.

The Role
Predominantly based on site with occasional remote working by exception. UK and International travel is expected with this role.
Reporting to the Chief RF Engineer, you will combine technical expertise with engineering leadership to develop innovative RF and antenna solutions from concept through to production.
As the deputy to the Chief RF Engineer, you'll support engineering governance, provide technical leadership across the business and act as a key interface for customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
You will also contribute to product innovation, engineering best practice and the development of the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

Design, develop and optimise innovative RF and antenna solutions.

Lead electromagnetic modelling, simulation and technical analysis using CST Microwave Studio or equivalent tools.

Provide technical leadership across complex engineering projects.

Deputise for the Chief RF Engineer, acting as delegated design authority when required.

Customer & Product Support
-
Lead technical discussions with customers and support proposal activities.
-
Translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.

Support product development from concept through verification, qualification and manufacture.

Resolve complex technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle.

Verification & Product Assurance
-
Plan and oversee RF and antenna testing, validation and performance verification.

Ensure products meet customer, regulatory and engineering requirements.

Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and design standards.

Team Development
-
Mentor and support engineers across the team.

Promote engineering best practice and technical excellence.

Contribute to capability development, recruitment and knowledge sharing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Engineering, Mechanical Design, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial and Project teams to deliver successful customer solutions.
About You
You will be an experienced RF and antenna engineer with a passion for technical excellence and innovation.
You will have:

Degree qualification in RF, Microwave, Electronic Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.

Significant industrial experience in RF and antenna engineering.

Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, antenna design and RF measurement techniques.

Experience using CST Microwave Studio or equivalent EM simulation software.
-
Hands-on experience of RF testing, verification and validation.

Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
-
Experience working directly with customers and responding to complex technical enquiries.

Experience mentoring or leading other engineers.
-
The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.

Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
Desirable
-
Master's degree or PhD in a relevant discipline.
-
Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
-
Experience within defence, aerospace or other high-reliability engineering sectors.

Knowledge of qualification testing, compliance and product assurance.

Experience supporting bids, technical proposals and customer presentations.
