Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure solutions across multiple platforms including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative cloud projects, optimise cloud architecture, and support the organisation’s digital transformation initiatives. Candidates should possess a strong background in cloud computing, software development, and IT infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy scalable cloud solutions using AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and OpenStack.
Manage and optimise cloud infrastructure including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Automate deployment processes using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, and PowerShell scripts.
Develop and maintain APIs and web services following REST principles to facilitate seamless integration across platforms.
Monitor system performance and ensure high availability through effective utilisation of cloud services like S3, SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), NoSQL solutions (e.g., Cassandra), and service-oriented architecture.
Implement security measures including VPNs and best practices for data protection within cloud environments.
Collaborate with development teams to support application development using JavaScript, Java, Ruby on Rails, Node.js,.NET or Go.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture designs and deployment procedures in line with SDLC standards.
Troubleshoot issues related to operating systems (Windows/Linux/Unix), virtualisation platforms (Citrix), and networking configurations.

Qualifications

Proven experience working with AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda; Microsoft Azure; Google Cloud Platform; OpenStack; and Rackspace.
Strong knowledge of cloud architecture design principles combined with practical experience in deploying large-scale cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency in scripting languages including Bash (Unix shell), PowerShell, Python, Ruby or Shell Scripting for automation tasks.
Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for orchestration of microservices architectures.
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
Solid understanding of IT security practices related to VPNs and data encryption within cloud environments.
Knowledge of application development frameworks and languages including JavaScript, Java,.NET, Ruby on Rails or Go is desirable.
Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle; experience with NoSQL databases is advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with strong organisational abilities in a fast-paced environment.
