Procurement Manager

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Reports To: Managing Director

Role Purpose

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Company's procurement function, ensuring the strategic sourcing and timely acquisition of goods and services that support the successful delivery of operational and project requirements. The role is accountable for achieving best value through effective supplier management, commercial negotiation, cost control, and compliance with Company policies and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the Company's commercial and operational objectives.
Lead all procurement activities, including supplier sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation, and purchasing.
Establish, develop, and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, value, and continuity of supply.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities support project delivery, production schedules, and business operations.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, mitigate supply chain risks, and deliver sustainable cost savings.
Monitor supplier performance and ensure contractual compliance, quality standards, and timely delivery.
Ensure procurement activities are conducted in accordance with Company policies, applicable legislation, and recognised ethical and commercial standards.
Prepare procurement reports, expenditure analysis, and market intelligence to support strategic decision-making.

Person Specification

Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional membership of, or progress towards, the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is desirable.
Demonstrable procurement experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction, or project-based environments.
Strong commercial acumen with proven contract negotiation and supplier management experience.
Excellent analytical, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP/procurement management systems.
