About the Role

A1PHA Security Services Ltd is recruiting professional and experienced Loss Prevention Operatives to work at a prestigious luxury retail store in the heart of Edinburgh.

This is a customer-facing security position requiring an individual who can combine excellent customer service with proactive loss prevention. You will help protect the client’s employees, customers, merchandise and reputation while maintaining the discreet and professional presence expected within a high-end retail environment.

The successful candidate must be observant, approachable, well-presented and confident when responding to theft, suspicious behaviour and other security-related incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

Monitoring the sales floor to identify and deter theft, fraud and suspicious activity.
Conducting regular high-visibility patrols throughout the store.
Maintaining a professional and welcoming security presence.
Working closely with store management to minimise stock loss and support shrinkage-reduction measures.
Observing, documenting and reporting incidents in accordance with company procedures.
Completing clear and accurate incident reports, witness statements and evidence records.
Responding professionally to incidents involving customers, employees and contractors.
Assisting with investigations into theft, internal dishonesty and security breaches.
Monitoring CCTV systems where authorised and appropriately licensed.
Following all GDPR, data-protection and company security procedures.
Supporting the store’s opening and closing procedures when requested.
Following emergency procedures, including fire evacuations and incident response.
Liaising with Police Scotland and other emergency services when required.
Providing excellent customer service while remaining alert to potential security risks.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

A valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence.
Previous retail security or loss-prevention experience.
The legal right to work in the UK.
Excellent observation and communication skills.
Strong customer-service skills.
A professional appearance and attitude.
The ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions under pressure.
Confidence dealing with challenging or suspicious behaviour.
Good written English and report-writing skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transport or the ability to commute consistently to Edinburgh city centre.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

Previous experience in luxury or high-end retail.
A valid SIA CCTV licence.
A current First Aid qualification.
Knowledge of retail theft procedures and civil recovery.
Experience preserving evidence and assisting with investigations.
