Job Overview

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant, where your energy and dedication will help keep our kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. In this vital role, you will support the culinary staff by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring all kitchen operations adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and safety. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment, develop your culinary skills, and be part of a passionate team committed to delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils to ensure a hygienic workspace
Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients under supervision
Support the kitchen team in organizing supplies and stock to ensure smooth daily operations
Ensure all waste is disposed of properly and that the kitchen remains tidy at all times
Help with setting up and breaking down workstations before and after service shifts
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment for all staff
Support serving staff during busy periods by providing timely assistance when needed

Skills

Experience in food preparation or kitchen environments preferred but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is key
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food hygiene standards
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous, especially in fast-paced settings
Strong organizational skills with an eye for cleanliness and detail
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with colleagues
A positive attitude with a willingness to take on varied tasks in a lively environment
