About Pragmatic

Pragmatic is a Leeds-based digital agency delivering websites, ecommerce platforms, mobile applications and bespoke software solutions for clients across the UK.

We work across WordPress, Laravel, Symfony, React, Vue.js, React Native, Magento, Shopify and AWS, delivering everything from high-end marketing websites through to complex business systems, customer portals, ecommerce platforms and integrations.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Web Developer to join our growing team and play a key role in the technical delivery of client projects.

The Role

As a Senior Web Developer, you will work closely with our project managers, designers and development team to deliver high-quality digital solutions.

You will take ownership of technical delivery across a range of projects, contribute to solution design, mentor junior developers and help shape technical standards across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain websites, ecommerce platforms, mobile applications and bespoke software solutions
Build custom solutions using Laravel, Symfony, WordPress and modern PHP frameworks
Develop frontend applications using React and Vue.js
Support React Native mobile application projects where required
Develop and maintain API integrations with third-party systems
Participate in technical discovery, planning and solution architecture
Review code and maintain development best practices
Support junior developers through mentoring and technical guidance
Troubleshoot technical issues across applications, infrastructure and hosting environments
Support deployment and release processes
Ensure projects meet performance, accessibility, security and quality standards
Contribute to continuous improvements in development processes and tooling

Skills & ExperienceEssential

Strong commercial PHP development experience
Experience with Laravel and/or Symfony
Experience developing custom WordPress solutions
Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills
Experience working with MySQL databases
Experience building and consuming REST APIs
Strong Git workflow knowledge
Experience working within a digital agency environment
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Excellent communication skills

Desirable

ReactJS experience
Vue.js experience
React Native experience
Magento experience
Shopify development experience
AWS experience
Docker experience
CI/CD experience
Experience with Algolia or enterprise search platforms
Understanding of accessibility standards and Core Web Vitals
