A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Product Developer to work in our facility in Severn Beach.
The main purpose of this role is to lead the development and enhancement of food products through effective project management, cross-functional coordination and application of specialist product development knowledge, ensuring alignment with customer, factory and commercial requirements.
This role underpins the company’s growth and reputation by managing complex product development initiatives, delivering solutions that enhance business performance while supporting departmental integration, timely reporting and supporting successful project delivery through effective coordination, technical knowledge and commercial awareness.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Lead complex product development through the gated NPD process to meet cost, quality, and timing.
- Manage key customer projects and relationships to deliver briefs and repeatable business.
- Develop, prepare, and validate recipes to customer, factory, retailer, and commercial requirements for approval and scale‑up.
- Coordinate cross‑functional activity and deadlines to achieve on‑time gates, trials, and handovers.
- Track product viability and commercial performance and make evidence-based recommendations within guidelines.
- Write and manage briefs, timelines, and gate/launch documentation to secure governance and right‑first‑time launches.
- Present concepts internally and to customers, providing product and project support within own area of expertise.
- Maintain compliance with Food Safety, Quality, OH&S, Data Protection, nutrition and labelling law, and proficiency in Bart systems and NPD procedures.
- Act as a mentor and support development reviews and team capability activities.
Person specification/qualifications/skills:
- Degree level qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
- Substantial experience of leading complex product development through gated NPD to meet cost, quality and timing.
- Significant experience of managing key customer projects and commercial relationships to deliver briefs and secure repeat business.
- Significant experience of developing, preparing and validating recipes for customers, factory scale‑up and retailer requirements.
- Significant experience of coordinating cross‑functional activity, tracking profitability and preparing gate and launch documentation.
- Detailed understanding of product formulation and gated NPD processes to scale recipes for factory production.
- Detailed understanding of food safety, quality assurance and nutrition and labelling legislation.
- Detailed understanding of manufacturing process technology and scale‑up constraints.
- Understanding of cost control, profitability and customer, supplier and co‑manufacturer technical requirements.
- Highly developed skill in leading gated NPD to deliver launches meeting cost, quality and timing.
- Developed skill in formulation and recipe scale‑up for factory production.
- Developed skill in coordinating cross‑functional teams and managing trials and handovers.
- Developed skill in analysing profitability and presenting technical recommendations to stakeholders.

The hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday with a salary of up to £39,977 dependant on experience. Some occasional travel to our Newbury site will be a requirement of this role.
This role is applicable to work at home for up to 2 days per week after a probation period.
