Commis Chef

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Commis Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills and gain valuable experience in a professional restaurant environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Head Chef and kitchen team, assisting with food preparation, maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene, and supporting the smooth running of the kitchen during service.

Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is preferred but not essential, as training and guidance will be provided. We are looking for someone who is hardworking, reliable, eager to learn, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience and skills.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef and kitchen team with daily food preparation and service
Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen requirements
Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes to a high standard
Maintain excellent food quality, consistency, and presentation
Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times
Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and safely
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, kitchen equipment, and preparation areas
Assist with stock rotation and checking deliveries when required
Minimise food waste and use ingredients efficiently
Support other members of the kitchen team during busy service periods
Follow instructions from senior chefs and work efficiently within the kitchen brigade
Assist with cleaning duties and end-of-service kitchen close-down
Maintain a professional and positive attitude throughout each shift

Requirements

Previous experience working in a professional kitchen is advantageous but not essential
A genuine interest in food and cooking
Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Good attention to detail
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Ability to remain calm and organised during busy services
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak service periods
A professional attitude and willingness to take direction
Spanish-speaking candidates are highly appreciated
