NestAway is a new online platform connecting people with nature-led, eco-friendly and conscious experiences, stays and communities.
We are building a platform that brings together Nesters — experience providers, hosts and facilitators — with Nesties, people looking for meaningful experiences, connection, nature and more conscious ways of living.
We are now looking for a talented Back-End Developer to join our growing team and play an important role in building the technology behind NestAway.
The Opportunity
This is an equity-based role, ideal for someone who is excited by the opportunity to become part of an early-stage company and help shape its technology from the ground up.
You will work closely with the founder and wider team to develop, maintain and improve the back-end infrastructure that powers the NestAway platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the back-end architecture of the NestAway platform
- Build and integrate APIs and databases
- Develop secure and scalable systems to support users, Nesters, bookings and memberships
- Work with the front-end developer to ensure smooth integration between front-end and back-end systems
- Support payment, subscription and booking functionality
- Implement authentication, user accounts and relevant data-management systems
- Troubleshoot bugs, improve performance and maintain system reliability
- Help identify technical improvements and recommend suitable solutions
- Ensure appropriate security and data-protection practices
- Contribute to the long-term technical strategy of NestAway
- Document development work clearly so the platform can continue to grow efficiently
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- An experienced Back-End Developer
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
- A strong problem solver with a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Comfortable working within an early-stage start-up where things can develop quickly
- Reliable, organised and able to manage your own time
- Interested in building something meaningful rather than simply completing tasks
- Excited by sustainability, nature, conscious living, community or social impact
Technical Experience
Experience with some or all of the following would be highly valuable:
- Back-end development
- REST APIs / API integrations
- Databases and database architecture
- Authentication and user management
- Cloud-based systems
- Payment/subscription integrations
- Security and data protection
- Git/GitHub or similar version-control systems
- Experience working alongside front-end developers
We are open to different technology stacks. Strong development ability, problem-solving skills and the right attitude are more important than knowing one specific programming language.
