Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in software and application development, with a strong background in a variety of programming languages and frameworks. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects, utilise cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to the design and implementation of scalable software solutions. The Senior Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and optimisation of complex software applications across multiple platforms, including front-end and back-end systems.
Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality code using languages such as JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, C++, Ruby on Rails, and VBA.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical specifications and translate business requirements into robust software solutions.
Manage version control using tools like GitHub, SVN, and Git, ensuring code integrity and efficient collaboration.
Develop and consume APIs (RESTful services) to facilitate seamless integration between systems.
Utilise cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure for deployment, scaling, and management of applications.
Implement database solutions using SQL-based systems like MySQL and SQL Server to optimise data storage and retrieval processes.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Ensure all software solutions adhere to security standards and organisational policies.

Qualifications

Proven experience in software development with proficiency in JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, C++, Ruby on Rails, VBA, and C.
Strong understanding of front-end development frameworks and tools.
Experience working with version control systems such as GitHub, SVN, or Git.
Familiarity with cloud services including AWS and Azure for application deployment and management.
Solid knowledge of APIs (REST) for system integration purposes.
Hands-on experience with SQL databases like MySQL or SQL Server; knowledge of database optimisation techniques is desirable.
Proficiency operating within Linux environments; experience with Linux server management is advantageous.
Knowledge of application development best practices within Agile or similar methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with strong communication abilities.
