The Role
We are looking for a Drainage Blockage Engineer to join our established team.
This is an important operational role involving the delivery of planned and emergency drainage services across a variety of customer sites. You will be responsible for attending blockage calls, identifying the problem and, wherever possible, resolving the issue on the first visit.
The role requires flexibility and includes participation in an on-call rota of 1 week in every 3, covering seven days. All hours worked when called out are paid at the appropriate enhanced rate, in addition to on-call payments.
Key Duties
As a Drainage Blockage Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Working standard day-shift hours of 8.00am to 4.30pm, with a requirement to work rotational twilight shifts of 4.00pm to midnight where required.
- Working to a daily planner, issued by the Aimrange office, detailing start times, customer locations and job requirements.
- Attending planned and emergency drainage blockage calls within required response times.
- Diagnosing drainage problems and aiming to achieve an effective first-time resolution wherever possible.
- Completing job cards for every attendance, providing full and accurate details of the problem, action taken and any further work required.
- Ensuring completed job information is returned promptly to enable follow-up action and invoicing.
- Taking responsibility for the cleanliness and general care of your allocated company vehicle and equipment.
- Driving and parking company vehicles safely, carefully and considerately.
- Treating customers, colleagues and members of the public with courtesy and respect.
- Working safely and in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
On-Call & Enhanced Payments
The role participates in a 1-in-3-week on-call rota, covering seven days.
In addition to your normal pay, the current on-call payments are:
- Monday to Friday: £15 per day – £75 in total
- Saturday: £30
- Sunday: £45
- Bank Holiday: £60
All hours worked when called out are paid separately at the applicable enhanced rate.
Hours worked above 40 hours attract enhanced overtime payments, with rates including time-and-a-half, double time and treble time, depending on when the additional hours are worked.
About You
