Stowe School is seeking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Head of Cricket to lead and develop one of its flagship sports programmes. The role will commence in September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to take on a leading role within a thriving and ambitious Sports Department. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the strategic direction, organisation, and delivery of cricket across the school, overseeing both boys’ and girls’ programmes.
Cricket is a central and highly valued part of life at Stowe, enjoying strong participation, excellent facilities, and a well-deserved reputation for performance. Stowe now seeks a forward-thinking and energetic leader who can continue the successes of the current programme, which has seen consistent achievements in terms of high performance and also the numbers of Stoics participating in the game. One of the most significant recent developments has been the emergence of girls’ cricket. All of these elements are important parts of the Stowe cricket identity, and the new Head of Cricket will be expected to nurture and further develop them.
The appointed candidate will be expected to:
-
Provide clear vision and leadership for all aspects of cricket at Stowe
-
Develop players of all abilities, from beginners to elite performers
-
Promote high standards of coaching, performance, and participation
-
Build on the school’s competitive success at regional and national level
-
Foster an inclusive and inspiring cricket culture across the school community
A successful track record of playing and coaching cricket at a high level is essential. This experience may have been gained across a range of environments, and applications are welcomed from candidates from all backgrounds within the game. Alongside technical expertise, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to inspire boys and girls to love cricket, develop a drive to improve, and take pride in representing the school.
The appointed individual will act as an ambassador for cricket within the school and as a custodian of its values and reputation. It is important that Stowe teams consistently display high standards of commitment, sportsmanship, appearance, and punctuality. The ability and willingness to contribute to winter sports coaching at any level would be advantageous.
Stowe is ambitious in its aspirations to be recognised as one of the leading cricket schools in the country. This role presents a rare opportunity for a passionate and committed individual to make a significant impact on a well-established programme and contribute to its continued growth at a national level.
