Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paramedic to join our emergency medical services team. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing advanced pre-hospital care to patients in urgent and emergency situations at a wide range of events. This role requires a compassionate approach, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. The Paramedic will play a vital role in delivering prompt, professional medical assistance while ensuring patient safety and comfort in a wide range of locations/environment's.
Responsibilities
- Respond swiftly to emergency calls and assess patient conditions on-site or en route to healthcare facilities
- Provide advanced life support, including airway management, cardiac monitoring, and medication administration
- Perform physical examinations and gather comprehensive patient histories to inform treatment decisions
- Administer injections, medications, and perform necessary procedures following established protocols
- Utilise physiology and anatomy knowledge to evaluate patient needs accurately
- Maintain aseptic technique during all procedures to prevent infection
- Operate emergency vehicles safely, adhering to traffic laws and driving regulations
- Conduct triage assessments to prioritise patient care based on severity of condition
- Assist with heavy lifting and manoeuvring of patients using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly and accurately in accordance with legal requirements and organisational policies
Requirements
- Valid registration as a Paramedic with relevant regulatory bodies
- Proven experience in patient care within pre-hospital or hospital environments, including critical care experience preferred
- Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) techniques
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques
- Experience administering injections, medications, and conducting physical examinations
- Ability to perform triage effectively in high-pressure situations
- Valid driving licence with a clean record; experience driving emergency vehicles is advantageous
- Physical fitness to undertake heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or moving patients
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under stress
