Fibre Laser Cutting Machine OperatorJob Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fibre Laser Cutting Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a CNC fibre laser cutting machine to produce high-quality components in accordance with engineering drawings and production schedules. The role requires attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and adherence to health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and position steel plates onto the fibre laser cutting machine bed using overhead cranes, forklifts, vacuum lifters, or other approved lifting equipment, ensuring correct material identification and alignment prior to processing.
- Set up and operate the CNC fibre laser cutting machine safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
- Select and load the correct CNC programs in accordance with production requirements.
- Monitor cutting quality and adjust machine parameters as required to achieve optimum results.
- Inspect finished components to ensure they meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Remove finished components from the machine and sort, label, and store them in designated locations.
- Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Conduct daily machine checks and basic preventative maintenance to maximise machine performance and minimise downtime.
- Report machine faults, maintenance requirements, material shortages, and quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Work closely with production personnel to meet manufacturing targets and delivery schedules.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience operating a CNC fibre laser cutting machine.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience within a steel fabrication, engineering, or trailer manufacturing environment.
- Forklift licence and/or overhead crane certification.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Experience with nesting software and CNC programming adjustments.
Reporting To
Production Supervisor / Manufacturing Manager
Working Hours 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Full-time position. Overtime and shift work may be required to meet production demands.
