West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Children and Family Services team as a handy person, providing essential maintenance and support to our four Family Hubs, based in Calcot, Hungerford, Newbury and Thatcham
About the Role
As the handy person, you will be the go-to person for general maintenance and repair tasks within the Family Hub. Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance work such as basic plumbing and decorating.
- Undertaking and recording routine H 7 S checks in line with West Berkshire council procedures
- Ensuring a safe and functional environment for our users
- Reporting any major repair needs to the Family Hub Manager
- General gardening and ensuring the outside areas are clean, safe and tidy.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of the Family Hub, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services for children and families.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Proven experience in a similar handy person or maintenance role
- Basic knowledge of repair and maintenance tasks
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and service users
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
A positive and friendly attitude is essential, as you will be interacting with a range of people on a daily basis.
