Full job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax & Payroll Apprentice to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a professional career in taxation and payroll whilst gaining valuable practical experience in a supportive practice environment.

The successful candidate will receive full training and support towards achieving their ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualification, alongside hands-on experience in payroll administration, Self-Assessment Tax Returns, and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self-Assessment (MTD ITSA).

Key Responsibilities

Tax Administration

Assist with the preparation of Self-Assessment Tax Returns
Support clients with tax-related administration and correspondence
Assist with the implementation and administration of MTD ITSA requirements
Maintain accurate client records and documentation
Monitor deadlines and workflow processes to ensure work is completed on time
Assist with HMRC correspondence and client queries
Support the tax team with the preparation of client information and tax records

Payroll Administration

Assist with the preparation and processing of client payrolls
Maintain payroll records and employee information
Support payroll compliance activities
Assist with payroll-related enquiries
Ensure payroll deadlines are met and records remain accurate

About You

Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent), including Maths and English (grade 5 or above)
Good written and numerical skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Confident using Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to learn new systems and technology
Interested in developing a career in tax and payroll
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
