Preci-Spark is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our busy and experienced team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting our quality and engineering functions by conducting testing activities, maintaining laboratory equipment, recording results, and ensuring laboratory processes are completed accurately and efficiently. Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science as a minimum
- Relevant qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Manufacturing, or a related discipline desirable
- Previous laboratory, quality, inspection or engineering experience advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills when interacting with colleagues and customers
- Professional and proactive approach to work
- Commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental compliance
Upon a successful interview, Preci-Spark's application process requires a basic criminal record check to be completed.
The Role
- Support laboratory testing and inspection activities in accordance with company, customer and industry standards
- Prepare samples for testing, analysis and evaluation
- Conduct routine laboratory tests and record results accurately
- Assist with metallurgical, chemical, dimensional or mechanical testing activities as required
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and housekeeping requirements are met
- Compile test reports and maintain accurate laboratory records
- Assist with investigations into product quality issues and non-conformances
- Ensure laboratory consumables and materials are adequately stocked and available
- Support continuous improvement activities within the laboratory and quality functions
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering and Production teams to support business objectives
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment at all times
- Comply with company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures
