Porta Romana is an English company, based in Farnham, Surrey. Our brand is synonymous with luxury lighting and furniture, supplying many of the most prestigious hotels, yachts, and residential projects around the world. The Porta Romana team is around 120 employees, based either in Farnham or at our London showroom. All our product development, casting, decorative finishing, assembly, and wiring work is undertaken in-house, and we also work with many other skilled artisans around the UK and beyond, to create pieces for our collection.
Based in our Farnham head office, we are currently looking for a CAD Draughtsman/woman to join our fantastic design and product development team on a 12-month contract. The primary responsibility of this role will be to model and produce technical drawings for the full back catalogue of our products and components, ensuring all designs are accurately documented and ready for manufacturing, specification, and internal use.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with furniture and lighting products, translating existing physical pieces into precise digital models and drawings as well as taking older models and recreating them in a standardised format.
What you will do:
- Create accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings of existing products using SolidWorks.
- Digitally document and model the entire back catalogue of furniture and lighting products.
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and component drawings.
- Maintain and organise drawing files, revisions, and product data.
- Use Excel to manage drawing registers, product information, and documentation tracking.
- Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure models and drawings reflect the correct specifications.
- Review existing drawings and update them where necessary for consistency and accuracy.
- Ensure drawings follow internal standards and are suitable for manufacturing and supplier communication.
What you will need:
Required:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and technical drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience producing detailed assembly drawings including GA’s and Exploded views for furniture, lighting, or similar physical products.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organised documentation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with design and technical teams.
Desirable:
- Experience working with product catalogues or large drawing libraries.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for furniture or lighting.
