About the team and the role
This role sits within our high-performing FP&A team, the team responsible for managing all financial reporting to senior management within Ocado Retail, as well as to our shareholders, M&S and Ocado Group. We deliver all aspects of financial planning at a total business P&L level, while providing key pieces of analysis and driving deep insights to support stronger decision-making and sustainable, profitable growth.
As the Senior Finance Manager – FP&A, you will be responsible for driving the drumbeat of the business’ planning cycle. You will ensure critical processes like the monthly reforecast, annual budgeting, and 5-year plans are delivered in a connected, robust, and timely manner.
This is a highly visible position with regular exposure to the senior leadership team. You will guide them through our planning cycles and act as the primary contact for our shareholders, whilst challenging inputs and assumptions to drive to better outcomes.. Additionally, as a key member of the finance leadership group, you will play a vital role in influencing the wider finance community through coaching and mentoring.
What you’ll do
Lead Core Planning Processes: Direct and deliver the annual budget and 5-year planning processes, translating strategy and choices into robust financial numbers with a clear narrative..
Project & Stakeholder Management: Project manages timelines and review points seamlessly, coordinating inputs/outputs while challenging detail to ensure accurate submissions.
Own the Forecast Cycle: Deliver the monthly reforecast process, identifying and tracking full-year risks and opportunities (R&Os) while recommending actions to mitigate risks.
Senior Executive Reporting: Prepare and deliver high-quality budget, forecast, and 5-year plan documentation, insights and analysis for the Ocado Retail Leadership Team (ORLT) and the Board.
Team Leadership & Development: Line manage, engage, and develop 3 direct reports (Finance Manager - Network & Property, Finance Manager - Save To Invest and Senior Financial Analyst - FP&A), setting clear objectives and providing active coaching. (You will also act as deputy to the Head of FP&A when required).
Who you are
Proven Financial Modeler: Highly proficient at financial modeling with the ability to design and build the right tools and processes.
Analytical & Narrative Expert: Strong experience in consolidating data, with a knack for storytelling—turning complex numbers into a clear narrative focusing on key points.
Strategic Thinker: Ability to see the bigger picture, join the dots across the business, and look beyond just a financial lens.
Senior Stakeholder Partnering: Excellent at managing relationships, with a clear and concise communication style that allows you to influence and challenge senior leaders.
Experienced People Manager: Previous experience managing at least one direct report, with a track record of coaching and developing team members.
Planning Background: Experience leading corporate budgeting or strategic finance initiatives.
Continuous Improvement Mindset: A proactive drive to identify efficiency improvements, automate planning tools, and enhance yearly processes.
Tech-Curious: A desire to be curious with AI, actively sharing learnings to drive new ways of working within the team.
